Some Embroidery Work

I recently finished this small wall hanging.  It is a pattern that I bought from Jenny of Elefantz.  She has loads of great designs.  You should check out her blog and website.  Jenny specializes in beautiful designs which often combine applique and embroidery. This particular wall hanging I made is only 11" by 12".  It is one of four little wonky houses in the set.

The light blue border is one of my go-to fabrics lately, by HarmonyArt Organic Fabric.  Maybe it's just handy for me, but I seem to be using it in quite a few projects lately.

Here is a close-up of some of the embroidery.  As you can see, it is quite detailed.  I have to say this was quite a bit of fun to do.

New Project

Here's a sneak peak at a new little project I'm working on. [Man, it seems I'm really, really good at starting projects. Now if I could just manage to finish a fraction of them...]
This is going to be a small wall hanging for my guest room.
I'm going for the arboreal thing here, with browns and greens. I have it sewn and quilted. And I have the binding cut already. All I need to do is sew the sleeve, a label, and get it bound.
I played with some leaf shapes (more or less!) in my quilting.

Asian-Style Wall Hanging

I got my wall hanging hung on the wall! Hooray!

It took quite a bit of wrangling, what with using hanging tabs, and using a different type of hanger, but I finally got it finished and hung up. (I'd previously given a sneak peak here.)

I bought the center panel a few years ago while I was at PIQF (Pacific International Quilt Festival) in Santa Clara, CA. Ever since, I've been thinking about what to do with it.

With the help of the great clerks at Britex Fabrics, I chose the borders: a small gold/white fabric for the inner border, and the luscious banded red for the outside.

+ + + + +

I'll show you some details now, the pretty little flowers (are they dogwoods?),

Now we have a much nicer view walking into the hall, instead of a blank wall.

The wall-hanging, by
the way, covers up a door opening in the wall
which houses the fusebox.
