More Britches for GranddaughterStitches

I made a third pair of warm pants for my dear little GranddaughterStitches.  These pants are made from green fleece.  (You can see some of the earlier pants I made for her here.)  They are nice and simple with just an elastic waistband.  They go together very easily.

You can see that for this pair of pants I put a little pink heart on the front of one leg.  Easily fused on, and then secured with a machine blanket stitch all around.

And on the back of these pants is a nice little pocket, again secured with a machine blanket stitch.

Apparently GranddaughterStitches likes her pants, because I occasionally see her wearing them in photos!  Always wish we lived closer!

New Pants for GranddaughterStitches

I made some new pants for GranddaughterStitches.  It seems she prefers stretchy pants to her blue jeans, and I hope these keep her warm.  They went together in a snap--one afternoon.  That might have something to do with the fact that it's not the first pair I've made!  In December I made her some in a different color, so I guess I did my figuring out then.  I did have to lengthen the pant legs several inches, as GranddaughterStitches is tall for her age.

I didn't have any of my cute "Grandma Made It" tags, but I did remember to put a size tag at the back of the waistband.  That's important with handmade children's clothes, as they may get passed around, and moms need to know what size they are.  These were size 4-5, obviously (!) and I added the "L" to stand for long.

They're all ready to get into the mail now.

Sewing for Aurora's Birthday

With BabyStitches just having had her third birthday, I did some more sewing for her. I'll show you some of it here.

DaughterStitches requested some new pants for BabyStitches, as she has outgrown the ones I made her last year (in this post). BabyStitches is growing by leaps and bounds, especially in her height. So I made these pants in size 4.

For these two pair of pants, you can see that I just reversed the order of two different fabrics. The blue floral is my guild president's quilt fabric. (No, I haven't been working on it yet!) For one of the pairs I put a ruffle on the bottom and used the side pockets. For the other I used a cuff on the bottom instead of the ruffle, and put the pockets on the back.

Then I had the idea to make BabyStitches a t-shirt with her age on it. I know that I made a onesie with "I'm 1" on it for her first birthday, and an appliqued Washington state shirt last Christmas, but I'm not sure if I did a "2" shirt for her.

But here is the third-year shirt. All I did was make the largest "3" in the word font of my choice, then enlarged it even further on a copier. I fused the three onto the shirt and did a machine blanket stitch around the edges. And what better fabric to use than the same red as I used for her pants!
